Bananas aren't perhaps the sort of thing you would normally consider freezing however it is perfectly possible to freeze bananas successfully. You can also freeze both ripe and overripe bananas in the same way. The frozen bananas can then be used in smoothies, cereal toppings, banana bread and a whole lot more.

It's very simple really. All you have to do it take the peel off and then pop them into a freezer bag. Try and remove as much air from the bag as possible, one tip is simply to use a drinking straw to suck out as much of the air as you can. You can also cut them into chucks before freezing them if you prefer. That way you don't have to cut them up when they are frozen. If you do a lot of home freezing, it's very much worthwhile to buy a vacuum sealer.

There are a lot of health benefits to be had from bananas and there are even people who go on what's called the "Morning Banana diet." It really has become quite a craze amongst the Japanese where the diet first started out. The ideas is that you eat a banana at breakfast however there have been a number of different variation popping up all over the place. If you're looking at losing weight incorporating bananas into your diet is an excellent thing to do but whatever you decide to do, don't go to the extreme by eating nothing but bananas. As healthy as they are they don't have every single nutrient your body needs to survive and you'll only make yourself ill.

Recipe For Frozen Banana Smoothie

1 sliced frozen banana
1 cup of milk
1/4 tsp of vanilla
1 (1 g) packet of sugar substitute or 2 tsp sugar
1 pinch nutmeg

Put all of the above ingredients into a blender at a medium to high speed for as long as it takes for the mixture to go smooth. Thats it.
